NTI’s Applied Buddhist Studies program is unique in its balance between the scholarly research of Buddhism and its application – Buddhist practice and experiential learning. NTI recognizes that both aspects are important and need to be well balanced and integrated for maximum effective learning.
Education is an essential part of a life-long quest for knowledge, skills and wisdom. This program not only provides practical and theoretical knowledge of a broad range of areas in Buddhism, but teaches the tools and skills to be able to develop knowledge and continue to grow spiritually, emotionally and professionally throughout life.
The program combines graduate-level seminars with extensive research projects in a range of areas, including history, philosophy and contemporary practice. It introduces the methods and skills involved in established academic research, and develops the ability to undertake independent research projects within the fields of health, business, education and religious studies, grounded in Buddhist values and wisdom. more
LEVEL 3 – The Master of Arts – Applied Buddhist Studies completes the program and culminates in an applied research project. You will study the impact of Buddhism in different countries, plus dialogues between Buddhism and other religions. You will explore the philosophy of life according to Buddhist beliefs as spiritual mentor and source of spiritual self-reliance, morality and ethics; plus learn the applications of Buddhist philosophy to all aspects of life – family, career, and responsible government and management. more
LEVEL 2: The Graduate Diploma in Applied Buddhist Studies continues the study of Buddhist beliefs, history and culture. You will see the connections between Buddhism and modern society, and apply Buddhist philosophy and experience to life and work in areas such as life education, palliative care and holistic health. more
LEVEL 1: The Graduate Certificate in Applied Buddhist Studies lays the foundations for further study and experiential learning and the application of humanistic Buddhism to daily life. It covers the foundations of Buddhism and theories and research methods of religious studies. You will examine the influences of Buddhism and apply the insights to topical issues in everyday life. more
