Dr Eng-Kong Tan

Dr. Tan is a medical doctor, consultant psychiatrist and analytic psychotherapist.  He is the Founder and Chairman of the Metta Clinic, an established group psychological practice in Pymble, Sydney.

He was formerly the Chairman of Training of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Association of Australia (PPAA), member of the Faculty of Training of the Australian New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy (ANZAP) and member of the Training Advisory Board of the NSW Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy (NSWIPP).  He is also a former Chairman of the Section of Psychotherapy of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

He is Founder President of the Australian Association of Buddhist Counsellors and Psychotherapists (AABCAP) and the first Director of Training of its two year Buddhism and Psychotherapy Professional Training Course.  He is a Founding Member of the University Buddhist Education Foundation of Australia (UBEF). He has been awarded Adjunct Professorship, and is also a Lecturer and Academic Board Member of Nan Tien Institute.

Dr. Tan is a full clinical Fellow of the RANZCP (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists), member of the NSWIPP (NSW Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy), ANZAP (Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists) and AAGP (Australian Association of Group Psychotherapists).

Dr Tan has presented keynote addresses, seminars and workshops on spirituality, Buddhism, mindfulness, meditation and psychotherapy in Australia and overseas in national and international conferences.
