Kerryn Coombs-Valeontis

Kerryn Coombs-Valeontis began her career as a teacher. She moved into Community Services and taught this for many years at TAFE. She completed her Masters in Social Ecology in 2002 and trained as an Arts Therapist in 2013. She integrates the creative inspiration she finds in nature into her work as a social artist. Humans and the non-human world are her canvas. She believes that everyone is creative and that there are many blocks to this in society, as well as individually, and that creativity is ultimately and innately therapeutic. She has co-authored the book Nature Heals: An Introduction to Nature-based Therapies in Australia and New Zealand (2019) and collates Ecopoiesis, an annual online zine offering of nature-inspired creativity. She also writes poetry, her first collection launched in 2023.
