    About us:
    Nan Tien Institute is a niche Higher Education Institute founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun, launched in 2011 within the precinct of the Nan Tien Temple, in Wollongong, Australia. We offer postgraduate programs in Applied Buddhist Studies, Health and Social Wellbeing, Humanistic Buddhism and Mental Health as well as customised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and special interest subjects across the areas of meditation, mindfulness and health

    About the Role and Responsibilities:
    Directly reporting to the Institute's Board of Directors, the President is responsible for leading the Institute's growth in the delivery of high-quality education to students and will provide strong leadership, management, and strategic direction for the Institute.

    Some of the responsibilities included but not limited to are as follows:

    • Implementation of a future strategic path
    • Ensure the institute’s financial viability
    • Ensure governance and legislative compliance in accordance with ESOS Act (2000), National Code and Protocols, and requirements of external regulators such as TEQSA, State Education authorities.
    • Oversee the effective running and administrations & academic functions;
    • Business development and growth.

    Who are we looking for?

    An experienced and forward-thinking person with exceptional people management and strong leadership skills to lead our team.
    This person has the ability to develop and grow the Institute through the establishment of strong partnerships with stakeholders and key industry members.


    1. Understanding and empathising with the Buddhist values and principles including commitment to equality and diversity;
    2. Demonstrated experience of successful leading a complex educational Organization through transformational change, including successful engagement with industry partners and in online education.
    3. Understanding of the Australian regulatory and other environments with regards to course accreditation, quality of programs.
    4. Ability to manage staff into high-performing teams who are able to assist in the development and implementation of program strategies and innovations.
    5. Commercial acumen, including extensive experience in program and organisational budgeting, financial management and entrepreneurial skills.

    1.  PhD in related areas.
