    Nan Tien Institute (NTI) is a private, not for profit, government accredited higher education provider offering courses in the areas of Buddhist studies, health and wellbeing.

    Accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, NTI offers postgraduate programs in Applied Buddhist Studies, Health and Social Wellbeing, Humanistic Buddhism and Mental Health. We also offer customised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and special interest subjects across the areas of meditation, mindfulness and health.

    The Lecturer/Research Fellow in Buddhism is responsible to carry out research in Humanistic Buddhism and teaching in the Applied Buddhist Studies and Humanistic Buddhism courses.

    Main Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Research:
      • Coordinating and conducting research in Humanistic Buddhism
      • Publishing research results in peer reviewed journals with high impact factors
      • Applying the research outputs to develop new subjects in the Humanistic Buddhism program
      • Applying for competitive grants
    • Teaching:
      • Preparing and delivering lectures, and conducting tutorials and seminar sessions
      • Act as subject coordinators
      • Preparing and marking essays, assignments, and examinations
      • Advising students on academic and related matters
      • Supervising research project of postgraduate student
      • Participating in setting course and degree requirements, curriculum revision and academic planning
      • Participate in online delivery when required
    • Service:

      • Attending departmental and faculty meetings, conferences and seminars

    • Essential:

      • Discipline-related PhD in Buddhism
      • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge/experience in Humanistic Buddhism
      • Demonstrated evidence of research achievement in Buddhism, including peer-reviewed publications and successful external grant applications
      • Teaching experience in Buddhism at higher education level including subject development/delivery and student consultation
      • Evidence of upholding the Buddhist values and ethos of the Nan Tien Institute
      • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders

    • Desirable:

      • Competence in reading Chinese language materials related to Humanistic Buddhism
      • Teaching experience at the postgraduate level in Chinese Buddhism and contemporary issues
      • Experience in postgraduate supervision of student research
      • Developed Buddhist community and professional contacts
