Report Writing: Title Page

Report Structure

As detailed in the Report Writing Guide, depending upon requirements, the report may include the following sections in the following order:

  • Title page – placed on a separate page – may not be required
  • Abstract – placed on a separate page – may not be required
  • Table of Contents – placed on a separate page – may not be required
  • Introduction
  • Body
  • Conclusion and Recommendations
  • Reference List – placed on a separate page
  • Appendix or Appendices – placed on separate pages – may not be required.

This page focuses on the Title Page.

Title Page Layout

A title page if required, which it usually is not at NTI, is the first page of the report. It is not numbered. As a title page is the face of your report, ensure that it is easy to read and looks visually appealing and uncluttered.

Title Page Content

A title page, at NTI, would typically include:

  • Title of report
  • Author
  • Date
  • Subject name and code
  • Assessment number
  • Subject coordinator’s name

What should be included is often detailed in the Learning & Assessment Guide, so make sure to read the assessment details carefully. If in doubt, use the Subject Forum to check with your subject coordinator.

Refer to this Guide for using Microsoft Word when creating a Title Page.
