Academia.edu A platform for researchers to share their research directly and openly. A free account is required to search.
Bio Med Central Part of the publisher Springer Nature, this database contains hundreds of peer-reviewed journals from research communities in science, technology, engineering, social science, environmental science, philosophy and medicine.
Directory of Open Access Journals Peer-reviewed open access journals including fields on science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities. 
Europe PMC Open access research in the life sciences fields integrated from a variety of sources including PubMed and Research Squared. The database includes both published research articles and preprints. 
Google Scholar A search engine for research papers. Note that note all articles are available through open access, but a link will be provided is Scholar can locate one.
JSTOR Open Content In addition to the subscription content available to NTI students, JSTOR offers thousands of open access journal articles and ebooks. Artstor also offers over a million freely accessible images, videos, documents and audio files from museums, libraries, archives and university collections.
MedKnow Open access, peer-reviewed medical journals.
PubMed Central A free full-text archive of biomedical and life sciences journals submitted to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. Not every journal in the archive is available in full as only articles with full-text availability are included.
RefSeek RefSeek is a web search engine for students and researchers that aims to make academic information easily accessible to everyone. RefSeek searches more than five billion documents, including web pages, books, encyclopedias, journals, and newspapers. RefSeek’s algorithm increases the visibility of academic information as opposed to a generic search engine like Google.

BMC Medicine The flagship journal of Bio Med Central publishes peer-reviewed research in clinical practice, translational medicine, public health, global health, policy and biomedicine.
AustralianMedical Journal of Australia Published by the Australian Medical Association. All articles published from 2012 onwards are open access, and some selected articles pre-2012.
